Peacefully surrounded by her loving family, listening to “Wind Beneath My Wings” at Copper Terrace Long Term Care Facility, Chatham, on Tuesday February 7, 2017, Bernice Bertha Houle, age 90, of Chatham, beloved wife of the late Maurice Houle (2015).
Born in Tilbury North Township in 1926, daughter of the late Agnes (Beaune) and Louis Gagnier.
Bernice was a member of the Catholic Women’s League (Harwich) and a member of St. Joseph’s Church.
Loving mother of Dennis (Mary Ann) Houle, Douglas (Donna) Houle, and Janice (Gary) Allin all of Chatham. Also survived by her grandchildren, Scott, Mark, Daylene, Jaymee, Jolene, Ed, Niki, Jess, Jake and by 11 great grandchildren.
Dear sister of Blanche Mosco(dec), Ludger Gagnier(dec), Dora Houle(dec), Rosabelle Houle(dec), Bernard Gagnier(dec), Gerard Gagnier(dec), Norma Sauve(dec), Betty Ann (Gerald) Alexander, Germaine St.Pierre, James Gagnier(dec), Norman (Betty) Gagnier, Stanley Gagnier(dec), Georgina (Ivan) Marcoux, Dianne Whitehead(dec). Also predeceased by her sisters-in-law Edmondine Cadotte, Geraldine Richer, Theresa Perry and brothers-in-law Roger Houle and Gerard Houle.
Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Thursday February 9, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 3 pm followed by Catholic Women’s League prayers.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday February 10, 2017 at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Church.
Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
