Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Wingert officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Memorial Garden in Olney. Full military rites will be performed by the Olney veterans organizations.
Mr. Wingert was born February 21, 1925, in Richland County, the son of Lester and Neva (McCarty) Wingert. He married Marcia Leo on February 20, 1950. She survives.
He worked for Pure Transportation and Unocal for more than 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW, Elks and Petroleum Club in Olney. He also served on the Richland County Farm and Fair Board for many years.
Mr. Wingert is survived by his wife, Marcia Wingert, of Olney; son, Mark Wingert and his wife, Jane, of Olney; daughters, Mary K. Kocher, of Olney, Barbara Rohr and her husband, Dennis, of Houston, Texas, and Linda S. Wingert, of Evansville, Ind.; sister, Margaret Petty and her husband, Kenneth, of Olney; grandchildren, Diana and Richard Dietrich, Ann Wingert and her friend, Kris Muston, Jill and Gaspare Cucinella, Matt and Tracey Kocher, and Lauren and Alex Rohr; great-grandchildren, Giuseppe and Frank Cucinella, Ethan Dietrich and Marcus Kocher; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Loren "Red" Wingert; sister, Opal Hattaway; and son-in-law, Maynard Kocher.
Memorials may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars or American Legion in Olney.
