Monty was born October 6, 1922, in Prescott, AZ, the daughter of Lamberto and Concetcion (Caviedez) Monreal. She graduated from Prescott High School and received her nursing degree in Tucson, AZ.
On May 16, 1945, Dalia was united in marriage to Francis Arnold Mehrhoff in Pecos, TX. They lived in Las Vegas until the late 1940s when they moved to Odebolt. She helped Francis some with farming, worked as a nurse at the Ida Grove Hospital and did private duty nursing, but her biggest job, and the one she loved the most, was taking care of her six children and providing a loving and comfortable home for her family.
Through the years she followed her children's activities at school and cherished the special times with her grandchildren and their activities. Monty was an avid card player and especially enjoyed a good game of bridge. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Odebolt, a member of the U. M. W., and taught Bible School.
Survivors include her husband, Francis; six children: Patrick Mehrhoff and wife Christa of Forest Lake, MN, Mark Mehrhoff and wife Patricia of Apple Valley, MN, Peggy Billings and husband Jim of Vinton, IA, Rex Mehrhoff of Anita, IA, Jay Mehrhoff and wife Yvette of Chicago, IL, and Kay Nelson and husband Dan of Phoenix, AZ. Other survivors include her seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Ercie Jurado of Tucson, AZ, and Rosemary Chavez and husband Arthur of Lakewood, CA; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Monty was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Albert; and sisters, Sally, Gail, Tillie, and Nellie.
