Dale Luedtke, 95, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 15, at 2:30 PM, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Creston, Nebraska, with Pastor Dave Hall officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Creston Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, at Gass Haney Funeral Home, and will continue on Tuesday, from 1:30 PM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 2:15 PM on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, plants, or statues, memorials are suggested to those of the family or donor's choice.

Dale Edward Luedtke was born July 16, 1924, on the family farm near Creston, Nebraska, to Fred & Ida (Marx) Luedtke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Creston. He attended District 53 Grade School and graduated from Creston High School in 1941. On May 5, 1945, Dale entered the United States Army, during World War II, serving in the Company ‘B’ 703rd Military Police Battalion. He was honorably discharged on October 22, 1946. Upon his discharge, Dale worked at a packing house in Omaha during the winter months and for his father on the farm the rest of the year.

On January 28, 1951, Dale was united in marriage to Elna Osterthun at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church They farmed in the Creston area until retiring in 2009, and moved to Columbus. Dale served as president of the Creston School Board, and a Vice President of Platte College Board in 1969. He enjoyed sports – especially the Kansas City Chiefs & Royals, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers - weather, farming, politics, and talking about his military days.
