Anna M. Michael, age 89 of Freeport, died on Friday, April 25, at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose. Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, April 29, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiated with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Anna Michael was born on December 11, 1913, in Freeport, to Frank and Anna (Kerfeld) Borgerding. She was united in marriage to Leonard Michael on June 28, 1945, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. She was a life long resident of Freeport. Anna was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Golden Years Senior Citizens, Christian Mothers and Sacred Heart Catholic Aid Society.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna Borgerding; husband, Leonard Michael on November 28, 1998; brothers, Henry, Frank, and Alphonse Borgerding; and two infant brothers, and sister, Agnes Doege.
Serving as casket bearers were Clarence Borgerding, Jerome Borgerding, Mary Jean Hoetter, Elaine Blommer, Jeanette Larson and Linus Borgerding. Serving as cross bearer was Linda Borgerding, and Pat Messer was scripture bearer. Gift bearers were Rita Wiechman and Marilyn Borgerding. Arlene Roelike was the lector, and honorary bearers were Christian Mothers
