Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Zahrt, who died February 8, 1950 following an extended illness, were held February 10, at the Cobb-Warner Funeral Chapel. The Rev. E. S. Ogrodowski officiated and internment was made in the Riverside Cemetery.

Mary Salome Kimms [Kimm] Zahrt, daughter of Silas and Catherine Kimm, was born August 10, 1873 at Norway, Iowa and at the time of her death was 76 years old.

She attended the rural schools near Norway and also the Tilford Academy at Vinton, Iowa. On January 15, 1895 she was united in marriage to Charles Zahrt of Marengo. They spent their first five years of their married life on a farm near Atkins, and in 1900 came to Clay County, moving to a farm near Rossie, where they lived until 18 years ago when they moved to Spencer. The family is at home at 320 E. 11th Street.

Mrs. Zahrt is survived by her husband and four children: Mrs. Kathryn Upward, Mrs. Grace Lady and Harley Zahrt of Spencer and Fred Zahrt of Rossie. Two sons preceded her in death, one in infancy and Charles D. who died in 1918. There are also 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louisa Nelson of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mrs. Anna Smith of Waterloo; three brothers, Henry Kimm, Adair; William Kimm, Independence; Edward Kimm, Norway, Iowa.

Mrs. Roy Noll and Mrs. Gail Piper, accompanied by Harold Brigham, sang. Pallbearers were Walter Hill, Art Peterson, Vernie Runkle, Eddie Cradduck, Tom Adams, and Homer Runge.
