She was 86 years old.
She was born in Scranton, Pa. and lived in Newark and South Plainfield prior to her move to Point Pleasant, in 1961.
Her life revolved around her family and her church. At Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and a member of the choir, from the time she joined the church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick L. Yochum, in 1991; and a daughter, Janet M. Austin, in 2002.
She is survived by two sons, Frederick M., of Brielle and David A., of Cornelius, N.C.; a sister, Ruth Jean Degraw, of Missoula, Mont.; seven grandchildren, Lori Yochum, of Little Egg Harbor, Andrew Yochum, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Kevin Yochum, of Southbury, Conn., and Jonathan Yochum, of Brielle, David Austin, of Glendale, Ariz., Julie Austin, of Gilbert, Ariz., and Max Yochum, of Cornelius, N.C.; and seven great-grandchildren.
Van Hise and Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant Beach, was in charge of arrangements.
Interment was held at the Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
