Agnes came to America with her husband Johan Arndt Gäking (aka John Arnold Gerking) and children. They came on the ship, Ernst and Gustav, from the Port of Bremen. They arrived on Sept. 25, 1837 at the Port of Baltimore. The commander of the ship was Herman Beurmann and it carried 60 passengers. She was listed as the 32nd passenger. The family is listed with the surname Nieberding which was the surname of Arnold's adoptive parents. (Subsequent generations dropped the usage of the surname Nieberding and use either Gerking, or simply King). After Arnold died, Agnes married Franz Henrich Werries (Francis Henry Werries)

Note, the birth date on the grave marker is incorrect (it does not corroborate with her baptismal records in Germany).
