She graduated from Geraldine High School in 1939. On June 20, 1942 she married Talbot Corder. Talbot soon enlisted in the army to join the war effort and Wilma moved with him to Kansas City as Talbot received radio training. Talbot was assigned to troop transport ships and Wilma moved to New York City, Washington D.C., San Francisco and Seattle to always be near his next port of call. After the war they returned to the family farm which they operated for more than 40 years with the help of their four sons. In 1965, while still operating the farm, they built a home in Fort Benton. They resided in Fort Benton until 2004 when they relocated to Great Falls. While in Fort Benton, Wilma was active in the First Christian Church and the Golden Age Center. In Great Falls she was a member of the New Hope Christian Church and always maintained a strong faith in the Lord.
Wilma enjoyed 98 years of life but was looking forward to rejoining her husband Talbot. She and Talbot had enjoyed travelling and had visited Europe, the Holy Land, New Zealand and Australia. In addition, they made numerous trips to Hawaii and many trips to visit children and grandchildren. She said many times in her later years that "I have lived a good life."
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Erwina and Hilda Mae, grandson Martin and Talbot, her husband of more than 70 years. She is survived by her sons David (Betty) of Higginsville, Missouri, Roger (Toni) of Geraldine, Floyd (Lois) of Great Falls, and Tyler (Marsha) of Henderson, Nevada. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Karl, Trampus, Paul, Benton, Jason and Ashley Corder and 11 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at a later date with interment at the Geraldine cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by O'Connor Funeral Home.
