Organist and Composer to the Chapel Royal. Third son of John Dupuis, he began his musical career as a chorister in the Chapel Royal. By 1758 he was elected a member of the Royal Society of Musicians. He went on to become the organist of the Charlotte Street Chapel (now St. Peter's). In March of 1779 he was elected organist and composer to the Chapel Royal. Oxford University awarded him both the Mus. Bac. and the Mus. Doc. in 1790. Three volumes of his cathedral music was published after his death. Some is still available at the International Music Score Project. He was considered one of the best organists of his day.
