Grace's first husband, Frank O. Reid, was a justice of the peace in Morgan Hill, Calif., and proprietor of the Glen Willis summer resort. They married in 1897 when she was 19 years old, and had two daughters: Grace Jeanette Reid and Eleanor Reid (who died at the age of 1). Grace sued Frank for divorce in January 1902, which was granted in March 1902. On April 12, 1902, she married Thomas V. Cator, a San Francisco attorney, in Reno, Nevada.
