Paul Howard Dies

Paul Howard, 75, of Little Rock, a Former Member of the Grand Ole Opry, died yesterday in Little Rock Of Congestive Heart Failure.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Griffin, Leggett, Healey and Roth Funeral Home in Little Rock, Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery also in Little Rock.

Mr. Howard, a native of Hartford, Ark., was the son of the late John and Melissa Howard.

While in Nashville from 1941 until 1951, he was a member of the Grand Ole Opry, performing with his band—The Arkansas Cotton Pickers. He left the Opry and moved to Shreveport, La., where he served as host of the Louisiana, Hayride radio show. Afterwards Hayride radio Show. Afterwards, he formed a group known as Paul Howard and Band and toured throughout Arkansas performing country music shows.

He returned to Nashville every year except one to perform at the Old Timers show held in April served as homecoming for former Grand Ole Opry members.

He is a member of Nashville’s Country Music Association.

Survivors include two daughters, Melissa and Miranda Howard, Little Rock Arkansas; son, Jason Howard, Little Rock and a sister Zelma Mullinax, Shawnee, Okla.
