Sherman J. Kuester, 78, of Somonauk, Illinois passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007 in The Tillers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oswego, IL. He was born May 23, 1929 in Hinckley, IL, the son of Edward Karl and Lena Anna (nee Rhode) Kuester.

He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and attended Hinckley High School. He married Sally Ann Passow on March 10, 1956 in Hinckley, IL. He was member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Somonauk, IL, Sandwich Moose Lodge #1016, and the Leland American Legion. Sherman was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War. He lived in the Hinckley, Somonauk area his entire life. Before retiring he was a bricklayer and cement finisher. After retiring he worked for the Village of Somonauk for ten years until his health failed him.

He is survived by his wife, Sally of Somonauk, IL; one daughter, Sondra (Mark) Bone of Somonauk, IL; three grandchildren, Brooke Derdzinski, Blair (Paul Lindstrom) Derdzinski and Brynn (Andrew Hallman) Derdzinski; and one special great granddaughter, McKenzie; one sister, Dorothy Corneils of Aurora, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Sherman Mark Kuester in 1979; one brother, Warren Edward Kuester; three sisters, Ella Mae Babbitt, Betty Ann Kuester and Eleanor in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Somonauk, IL with Pastor Dennis Heaney officiating. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Hinckley, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Memorials may be directed to Somonauk Park District, St. John's Lutheran Church or the charity of ones choice.
