She was the daughter of Aloys and Olive (Hemmelgarn) Huwer. She married twice and survived both husbands. On Feb 5, 1949, she married Ulrich Luttmer, and on Dec 1, 1956, she married Norbert 'Doc' Gels.
Surviving are a son, Eric (Shirley) Luttmer, Wilmington, NC; two daughters: Jane (Joe) Boeckman, Columbus, and Mary (Bruce) James, Celina; two brothers: Willard (Rita) and Harold (Thelma) Huwer; two sisters: Irene Makely and Joan Shivers.
