Agnes Ava (Ryan) Amon was the third of four children born to Sam and Jeannie Ryan. Her birth took place at Ray, Alberta, a small community northwest of Edmonton, near the current village of Riviere Qui Barre. Later she moved with her family to Lavoy, Alberta where they lived on a farm. When she was in high school they lived in Edmonton where Agnes attended high school and also Alberta College. Agnes met Carl in Edmonton and both of their children were born in Edmonton, although they were actually living in Kansas at the time of the birth of their son who lived less than a year. Agnes worked at a number of jobs including the matron of the Rocky Mountain House Hospital.
