Born in Utica, September 6, 1947, Stephen was a son of the late Barney and Mildred (Markowski) Zurek. He was raised and educated in locally. On June 17, 1967, he was united in marriage with the former Donna M. Church. At one time, he held a position with the Masonic Care Community. Mr. Zurek retired from his family concern, Zurek Brother�s Painting, which he co-owned and operated for several years.
Surviving is his wife, Donna; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa A. and Ronald Bonanza, and Shelley Lynn and Scott Sook all of Utica; nine grandchildren, Steven M. True, Jennifer A. True, Joshua A. True, Scott E. Sook, Jr., Tyler J. Sook, Jared S. Sook, Devon S. Sook, Donna T. Sook, and Vivianna L. Sook; three great-grandchildren, Vincent M. Holt, Scott E. Sook, III, and Lisa M. Holt; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Melody Gianona of Westmoreland, Chris McDaniels of New York Mills, Cindy and Michael Boehlert of Whitesboro, and Eve Zurek and her companion Bob Christi of Utica; two brothers Barney Zurek and Bart Zurek both of Utica. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Ronald, Louis, and Alexander Zurek.
