Karl J. "Bud" Heiland

Karl J. "Bud" Heiland, age 73, of Rice Lake, WI died Sunday, July 29, 2007 at the Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake.

He was born on March 7, 1934 in Rice Lake, WI to Carl and Anne (Veit) Heiland. Bud attended grade school at St. Joseph School and graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1952. He entered the United States Army in 1956 and served in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1958. Bud was married to Genevieve Geisness on August 30, 1958 in Rice Lake, WI. He worked for Paul Schneider Heating in Rice Lake from 1958 - 1966, after moving to Duluth, MN he worked for Walker Jamar Co. for 2 years, moving back to Rice Lake for a few years before moving on to Champlin, MN in 1971 where he worked for Fred Vogt Company for 21 years. Bud and Genevieve retired back to Rice Lake in 1990. Bud was a member of Sheet Metal Union #10, volunteered for the Boy Scouts and raised his four boys all to be Eagle Scouts. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, remodeling and yard work.

Bud Heiland is survived by his wife, Genevieve Heiland of Rice Lake, WI; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel & Kathleen Heiland of Fridley, MN, Steven & Cindy Heiland of Rogers, MN, Thomas & Torre Heiland of Wyoming Township, MN and James Heiland of Brooklyn Park, MN; 6 grandchildren, Victoria, Bethany, Kirsten, Kelsey, Lucas and Colin; a brother, William Heiland of Rice Lake, WI and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Anne Heiland and a brother, Cyril Heiland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, August 2, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fr. James Powers officiating, with interment in Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake, WI where Military Rites will be accorded by the Rice Lake Veterans Center Honor Guard. Friends may call from 4 - 8 PM Wednesday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals and for 1 hour prior to the funeral at the Church.
