Eleanor Louise (Brothanek) 95, of Kimball, SD; passed away peacefully, Friday April 24, 2020 in Wessington Springs, SD.

Due to the Covid-19 virus a private burial will be held at GAR cemetery in Miller, SD; Saturday May 2nd at 1:00 pm.

Eleanor was born January 7, 1925 the daughter of Heneretta (Kruse) and Frank Brothanek of Buffalo Co.

Eleanor went to a country school for grade school and graduated high school from Gann Valley, SD; after graduating from high school, she worked at the Federal Land Bank in Miller.

On June 28, 1945, Eleanor married Herman Frank Viereck Jr. at St. Placid Catholic Church in Buffalo Co. Eleanor and Herman lived and farmed in Buffalo Co. where they raised their four daughters.

Eleanor worked nights at Chamberlain Hospital in the office. She drove the school bus and worked at the Wessington Spring grade school for over 20 years.

Herman passed away in 1977, Eleanor remained on the farm for nearly 40 years. While on the farm she enjoyed mowing the lawn, playing cards with the neighbor ladies, reading and visits from her daughters and grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, parents, brother Andrew, son-in-law Leroy and grandson Lance.
