Cpl. Juan M. Lopez Jr., 23, of San Antonio; was assigned to 5th Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Bliss, Texas; He died Aug. 13 in Qayyarah, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device. Also killed were Staff Sgt. Eric D. Cottrell and Pfc. Paulomarko U. Pacificador.
Corporal Juan Manuel Lopez, Jr. was born August 9, 1984 in Mt. Holly, New
Jersey. A resident of Florence, SC, he was the son of Juan Manuel Lopez, Sr.
and Tina Marie Murph Criss. He entered eternal rest on Monday, August 13,
2007 in Iraq, while serving his country in the United States Army.

He attended the public schools of Florence County.

Corporal Lopez was a member of Faith Kingdom Builders Outreaching
Ministries, Florence, SC. He was also a member of The Inner Court Apostolic
Church, Florence, and Faith Mission Outreach, Texas.
