Zelma Lea Arnold, 91, of Athens passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020, in St. Simons Island, Ga., where she relocated six years ago to be near her daughter. She was born in McMinn County on April 11, 1929, to the late A.T. “Tommy” and Essie Campbell Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Maynard Arnold; a brother-in-law, Grant Helm; and nephew, Gary Helm. She was a member of North Athens Baptist Church, was associated with White Westinghouse until her retirement, and was associated with Walmart for 15 years after her retirement. She enjoyed doing genealogy research in her spare time. A private graveside service for family only will be conducted at Rogers Creek Cemetery.
