George A. Kippes, 71, 1124 Webster, died Sunday in a Topeka hospital.

He was born Jan. 7, 1903.

He spent most of his life in Topeka. He was employed by the John M. Morrell Meat Co. 14 years and later worked for the Santa Fe Railway building maintenance department 19 years before he retired. He was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church and the Santa Fe Railway Retired Employees Club.

He was married to Catherine Degand Oct. 10, 1922 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors included two daughters, Geraldine Kippes and Mildred Kippes, both of Topeka; a brother, James Kippes of Chicago, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. Magdalene Schmidt, Lake Tomahawk WI.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Kippes will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Brennan Funeral Home where parish prayers will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
