Silas & Louisa (Wattles) Cole were the third earliest settlers of Norwich, Chenango County, New York who had arrived there by 1790 from Voluntown CT. In 1806, Silas removed to Sugar Camp, Scioto County, Ohio with his daughter, Manerva and his two eldest sons, Lucius "Lucas" and Marcus Cole. Except for their eldest married daughter Elizabeth who stayed in Norwich NY, by 1810, his wife and the rest of his family of 10 children had arrived in Scioto County OH (see "The History of Chenango County NY" and Census Data). Silas & Louisa Cole lived on a farm near Alexandria, Washington Township, Scioto, Ohio and Silas Cole passed away there on the 27th of an unknown month of 1827 (see "Gateway to the West").
