Funeral services for Ralph Kosel, 49, of Marble will be held Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic church in Marble at 11 a.m. Mr. Kosel died unexpectedly at his home November 15. He was born July 30, 1919 at Waite Park, and had lived in this area since 1937. He had been a member of St. Mary's, the Marble Fire department, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, the Itasca County Welfare Board, and president of the United Steel Workers of America, local 2073. Survivors include his wife, Frances; and seven sisters.
Father Frank Perkovich will officiate at burial rites, with interment at Lakeview cemetery in Coleraine. Visitation will be at Rowe Funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rosary recitation by the Knights of Columbus will be at 7:30 p.m. and a wake prayer service will be at 8 p.m. in Rowe Funeral home Tuesday.

Ralph Kosel, 49, a resident of Marble since 1937, died unexpectedly at his home Friday. Mr. Kosel was born in Wade Park [Waite Park], on July 30, 1919 and came to Marble to make his home in 1937. He was an employee of the Cleveland Cliffs Mining Co., was president of the CIO Local 2073, a member of St. Mary's Catholic church, a 4th degree member of the Coleraine Council Knights of Columbus, the Poppe-Smuk-Appelget Post and the American Legion of Marble and Calumet, and the Itasca County Welfare Board. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; seven sisters, Mrs. Annie Vogel of Wade Park [Waite Park], Mrs. Harold Phipps, Miss Bernie Kosel of Minneapolis, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Blanchard, Mrs. Chester (Celestine) Blanchard, Mrs. Lawrence (Teresa) Blanchard, and Mrs. Stanley Sindelir, all of Marble.
Requiem Mass was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday from St. Mar's Catholic church in Marble with the Rev. Fr. Frank Brennan officiating. Music was by Mrs. Frank Blanchard, Elector was Dennis Sindelir, both nephews of Mr. Kosel. The rosary recitation by the Knights of Columbus was held at 7:30 p.m., and the parish prayer service at 8 p.m., Tuesday evening at the Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery. Pall bearers were all nephews of the deceased, Joseph W. Blanchard, Jr., Fred Kosel, Donald Kosel, David Kosel, Clarence Hilger, Richard Hilger, Warren Blanchard, Harold Phipps, and Robert Phipps.
