Barbara Ann (Pope) Goerdel, 63, of Thorndale, died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Providence Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life Services will be 11 AM Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale with Pastor James Mann officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Barbara was born on September 13, 1943 in Point, TX. to George and Juanita (Stigall) Pope. She was married on February 18, 1962 to Ronald Leslie Goerdel. Barbara was baptized in the BaptistChurch. She was confirmed when she became a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pasadena, TX. on June 6, 1966. Barbara worked as a clerk at Steve's Cash Store in Thorndale. She later worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety in Austin until her retirement in 2003. She was an associate member of St. Paul LWML and a former member of the Thorndale Fireman's Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Karen Denice Goerdel, her father, George Pope, and step-father, C. Bill Chittum.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 44 years, Les Goerdel; daughter, Ann (Goerdel) Zuehlke and husband, Floyd, Jr. all of Thorndale; son, Brent Goerdel and wife Gina of Cedar Park; mother, Juanita Chittum of Pearland; brother, Bill Chittum of Austin; three grandsons, Steven and Kevin Zuehlke of Thorndale and Steven Schuchardt of Cedar Park; and many relatives, friends, and good neighbors.
Pallbearers will be Steven Zuehlke, Kevin Zuehlke, Steven Schuchardt, Brandon Jones, Brian Jones, Robert Young, and Eddie Collins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Jackson, Mel Morris, Melvin Cast, Norman Leschber, Floyd Zuehlke, Sr., and Freddie Wuensche.
Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Forever Family Fund, P.O. Box 369, Thorndale, TX. 76577.
