Ben had been diagnosed at an early age with Friedrich’s Ataxia, a debilitating and rare disease that falls under the umbrellas of Muscular Dystrophy.
Even though he had been confined to a wheelchair since he was seventeen, he never considered himself to be disabled. He jumped out of airplanes, took a bus across the country twice (following the Grateful Dead) and lived independently in South Dakota for fourteen years. While at the University of South Dakota, Ben was awarded a Masters’ degree in Math and Bachelor’s degrees in English and Physics. One of his proudest accomplishments were the years he taught Physics and tutored in math for the University.
Ben is survived by his mom and step dad, Karen and Eddie, his dad, Jim, brother Shawn, a nephew, Michael, much loved Aunts and Uncles in Canada, Florida, and North Carolina and cousins in Australia, Canada, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida and New York.
A Celebration of Life is planned, but due to the Coronavirus a date has not been confirmed at this time.
The family is requesting donations to Friedrich’s Ataxia Foundation (FARA 533W Uwchlan Ave. Downingtown PA 19335)
