Frederick Michel was born to Johann F. Michel and Margaretha Barbara Eberle (Eberlin) in Brötzingen, Karlsruhe, Grand Duchy of Baden on 15 December 1822. He emigrated to the USA and settled in York County, Pennsylvania as did at least two of his brothers. He married Lena Lehr (several variations Lena/Leah Lehr/Lair/Lager) in York County between 1842 and 1847. They had at least two children in York County, including William (born 19 July 1848) before moving to Franklin County, Ohio, again with at least two of his brothers, Gottlieb and Johann Georg. He settled in Prairie Township near the sometimes Village of Rome. There he and his wife had several more children, including Christian, Sarah, Charles, & John. He died in Prairie Township, Franklin County, Ohio, on 14 Dec 1900.
