Memorial services for Dr. William Henry Bernhardt, longtime faculty member of the Iliff School of Theology, Denver, Colo., were held in Iliff Chapel. Bernhardt died Sept. 5 in San Diego, Calif., where he had lived since his 1964 retirement. Taught philosophy of religion, theology and ethics at Iliff and had served as acting president of the school four different times. In later years was academic dean. Born in Chicago, raised in Nebraska. Attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and Garrett Biblical Insititute, Evanston, III. Received master's degree at Northwestern University and doctorate of philosophy at University of Chicago. Survivors: daughter, Nancy Bernhardt Beach, San Diego, Calif. ; brother, George Bernhardt, Rockford; sister, Dorothy DeWitt of Denver, Colo., formerly of Beatrice; and other relatives near Beatrice.
