Known as Cecelia. Her first name Getrude was used to honor neighbor Gertrude Neisinger who died three weeks before her birth. Mrs Neisinger's daughter, Emma Neisinger Gully, was Cecelia's paternal aunt and midwife at her birth, which took place in rural Dexter Township, Lidgerwood, North Dakota. At age six years old in 1907, her parents and three siblings relocated 140 miles northwest to the Mahnomen, Minnesota area. Her parents continued to farm south of town in Pembina Township and birthed four more children..
Cecelia and Silverius Welter married in Mahnomen in 1923. They birthed six children there, four sons and two daughters. Their youngest was born in 1939. When this author became acquainted with Cecelia, she and Silverius were living in the south fringe of my boyhood neighborhood in north Minneapolis.
