Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church of Bushland with the Rev. Jeff Ponder and the Rev. Curtis Hail officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Mrs. Menke was born Oct. 4, 1914, in Columbus, Neb., to Gus and Lydia Mohrmann. She grew up in Columbus and married Fritz Menke there in 1948, and they moved to Amarillo that same year. She and Fritz were founding members of Bushland Baptist Church and were very active in the church. Lois was the church pianist for many years and also taught the Adult Women's Sunday school class for more than 30 years.
Her heart's desire was to serve the Lord in everything she did. She ministered to prisoners by writing them letters and she was a prayer warrior for family and friends. She loved studying the Bible and was a godly mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz, in 1991; and infant son, Daniel; and three brothers, Leonard, Allen and Arville.
Survivors include two daughters, Georgiann Menke of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Lydia Mae Menke of Amarillo; two sons, Mark Menke and wife Denise and Michael Menke and wife Stephnie, all of Amarillo; a brother, Gus Mohrmann and wife Bernice; two sisters-in-law, Irene Mohrmann and Eleanor Behlen; seven grandchildren, Nathan Tucker and wife Natalie, Gayla Martin and husband RoyDee, Aaron Tucker, Stephen Menke, Amber Dunn, Michaela Dodson and husband Jarrod and Marla Jerden and husband Lance; and six great-grandchildren, Alexsis and Tyler Tucker, Brittany Cole, Branson and Benjamin Cole and Faith Dodson.
The family suggests memorials be to Gideon's International, P.O. Box 2304, Amarillo, TX 79105.
