Russian ballet dancer, known also as Lady Keynes, the wife of John Maynard Keynes. Her real name was spelled Lopukhova. She was born in the theatrical family where all four children became ballet dancers. She trained at the Imperial Ballet School. She left Russia in 1910, joining the Dyagilev's Ballets Russes. She married the company's business manager, Randolfo Barrochi. During these years she became a friend of Stravinsky, and of Picasso, who drew her many times. She appeared on the stage in London and Cambridge from 1928, and broadcast on the BBC. In 1946-1949 she was a member of Arts Council of Great Britain.
