Leo Lange, formerly of Onslow and Scotch Grove, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at the Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday morning, June 5, 2006, at the Scotch Grove Presbyterian Church, with interment in the Scotch Grove Cemetery. Rev. Joyce Dean and Rev. Timothy Miller will officiate at the services.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Leo Frederick Lange was born April 21, 1919, at Eby's Mill, Scotch Grove Township, Jones County, Iowa. He was the son of William and Violet Carr Lange. Leo attended the rural schools near his home and then started working as a farmhand.

Leo F. Lange and Donna M. Carpenter were married November 23, 1936.

The couple farmed in the Onslow area until 1949. From 1949 until 1991 they farmed near Scotch Grove. In 1991 the couple returned to Onslow to make their home.

Donna preceded him in death on February 4, 2005.

Surviving are eight children, Joyce Suby, Marion, Leon Lange, Onslow, William Lange, Rogers, Arkansas, Lois Lange, Des Moines, Andrea Kimmerle, Davenport, Diane Beers, Waterloo, Laurel Cappers, Cedar Rapids, and Joe Lange, Monticello; 23 grandchildren; a brother, Ervin, and a sister, Betty Davis, both of Maquoketa; 41 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna, two grandsons, Billy Lange and Tyler Zabawa, a granddaughter, April Sue DeLarm, and a half sister, Leona Preston.
