Fr. Ambrose Chrzanowski, OFM Conv., was born on November 11, 1887, in Baltimore, MD. After much consultation and consideration, he expressed his intention to join the Conventual Franciscans and was sent to Syracuse, NY, where he completed the Novitiate in the Province of the Immaculate Conception and professed his simple vows on August 30, 1908. His philosophical and theological studies were at the Seraphic College of St. Bonaventure, Rome, Italy. He was ordained to the priesthood on August 10, 1913.
Fr. Ambrose's first and only assignment in the Province was at St. Stanislaus, Bishop-Martyr, Church in Chicopee, MA. despite his robust health, he fell victim to the epidemic of influenza in 1918 while ministering to the sick in Lynn, MA. He died in Lynn on December 29, 1918, in the 32nd year of his age, the 11th of his religious profession and the 6th of his priesthood. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated in his native Parish of St. Stanislaus Kostka, Baltimore, MD and the mortal remains were laid in the Cemetery of St. Stanislaus Kostka, Baltimore on January 3, 1919 (Friars' Mausoleum, Row 2, #3).
