Ambrose's first and only assignment in the Province was at St. Stanislaus, Bishop-Martyr, Church in Chicopee, MA. despite his robust health, he fell victim to the epidemic of influenza in 1918 while ministering to the sick in Lynn, MA. He died in Lynn on December 29, 1918, in the 32nd year of his age, the 11th of his religious profession and the 6th of his priesthood. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated in his native Parish of St. Stanislaus Kostka, Baltimore, MD and the mortal remains were laid in the Cemetery of St. Stanislaus Kostka, Baltimore on January 3, 1919 (Friars' Mausoleum, Row 2, #3).
