Loyd William Thurman Jr, 88 of Ft. Worth, Texas, passed away on October 3, 2020. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel, 1204 E. California Street, Gainesville, Texas. Graveside Service, 1:00 p.m. on October 7, 2020 at Nelson Grove Cemetery, Woodbine, Texas. Brother Rick Carney will be officiating the service.
Loyd was born on April 11, 1932 to Loyd William Thurman Sr. and Alma Josephine (Partain) Thurman in Woodbine, Texas. He was a veteran in the United States Army. Loyd married Betty Fontamillas on November 5, 1995 in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was in Sales and administration in the steel industry and was a faithful Christian. He officiated at football games more than 30 years and was a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather.
Loyd is survived by his wife, Betty Thurman of Ft. Worth; sons, Glenn Thurman of Tallahasse, Florida; Scott and Tracey Thurman of Cooper, Texas; daughter, Susan Thurman Frederick of Orlando, Florida; sister, Betty Jo Benford and husband, Dewayne; sister in law, Janie Thurman of Gainesville, Texas; step-daughter, Christine Hebert and husband, Keith of Weatherford, Texas; step-son, Patrick Barker of Weatherford, Texas, 1 step grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Terry Lynn Thurman, sister, Grace Dillon and brother, Kenneth James.
In support of our local, state, and federal government including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, social distancing and the wearing of masks while attending the funeral services and visitation will be observed.
