Linda Louise Hoover
December 14, 1940 - October 06, 2020

Linda Louise Hoover, 79, of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020, at the Atkinson Funeral Home with Pastor Mark McCune and son in law, Pete Sellers, leading the celebration of her life. Linda has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Kansas City Hospice. Linda and her family are deeply appreciative of the care and compassion that the nurses and staff have shown them as they traveled through this valley with them.

Linda was born to parents Clell Vernon Cox and Tera Marie Williams Cox on Dec. 14, 1940 in the small town of Pine Bluff, Ark. Her family later moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she graduated with honors from Westport High School in 1958. Linda was a loving, but firm, big sister to her brothers, James Vernon/Butch Cox (Terry), and David Cox (Cindy Stoner) and enjoyed a wonderful bond with them as adults, often gathering at family dinners in one other’s homes to celebrate the milestones in their lives. Linda married Arthur Edmund Zans in Fairmont, MO on August 22, 1959. From that marriage, came four children whom she loved dearly and built her life around. These children are: Mark Stephen Zans Rollins, Arlington TX; Elizabeth Anne Zans, Harrisonville, MO; Tera Marie Sellers, (husband, Pete), Gilbertown, AL; and Patrick Joseph Zans, (wife, Sherry), Lee’s Summit, MO.

After living many places in the Mid-West, in 1979 Linda and her children returned to live near her parents and brothers in Harrisonville, Missouri. She worked hard to provide for her children sacrificing much to meet their needs. She instilled in them her strong work ethic, providing a foundation for success in each of their own families. She met and fell in love with Robert Lynn Hoover whom she married on September 4, 1982. Bob and Linda enjoyed over 20 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in March 2006. In their early years, Linda and Bob traveled quite a bit, something they loved to do. They also simply enjoyed spending quiet evenings together reading and listening to the Weather Channel.

Linda was an excellent and committed employee for over 25 years at Aventis Pharmaceuticals, working her way from an administrative assistant to a production planner for their liquid medication line. She then worked at Country Club Bank in Harrisonville as a loan clerk from which she retired.

Linda was blessed to find a wonderful circle of friends when she became a member of the Red Hat Society. These wonderful ladies brought out the fun side of Linda, enjoying their fellowship and many outings., celebrating love and laughter, and oh, yes, crazy red hats and purple clothing!! Linda’s favorite color combinations!! Linda was an avid gardener, enjoying many happy hours in her flowers and vegetable garden, a joy and love that was most certainly handed down from her mother, Marie.

Linda had another friend that occupied a very special place in her heart, a big, beautiful, Golden Retriever named Tanner, who kept her company for many years. Linda always said she would never have a dog in her house…. until Tanner wiggled and licked his way in!!! She was often guilty of sneaking him treats under the table when no one was looking!

In the past few years, Linda grew in her love for the Lord. She faithfully attended Cornerstone Community Church, where she participated in Bible Studies and soaking in the Truth of the Word of God. Above all, Linda loved her family and devoted her life to serving and sacrificing for not just her children, but for her parents as well. She cared for her parents in their final years, providing a place of peace and joy for them to live out their last days in the comfort of home.

Linda is survived by, not just her children and brothers, but by 5 grandchildren: Jake Kauffman (Calhoun, MO), Joshua Zans (Lee’s Summit, MO), Cody Sellers (Gulfport, MS), Dana Cox (Harrisonville, MO) and Michael Cox (Harrisonville, MO); and 5 great-grandchildren.

The Word of God says that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2nd Cor 5:8). While Linda has passed into glory with her Father where there is no more suffering nor pain and every tear has been wiped away, her final resting place will be Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, Missouri.
