Maynard Elroy Braaten passed away on April 3, 2020 at the LifeCare Roseau Manor at the age of 87.

Maynard was born on February 2, 1933 in Dieter Township of Roseau County, to Nels and Nellie (Edwardson) Braaten. He attended school in Ross and graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN. He and Elizabeth (Urtel) were married on June 13, 1959 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Ross.

Maynard was life-long farmer who enjoyed his work and caring for the land. He was proud that his land was farmed for 5 generations of Braaten’s. He will be remembered for his honesty, his hard-work ethic, his sense of humor and his love of family. Blessed be his memory.

He is survived by his wife, Liz Braaten of Roseau; children, Gregory of Roseau, Vicky (Kyle) Hoines of Langford, SD, Lisa (Daryl) Wicklund of Badger, MN and Jason (Ruth) of Roseau; grandchildren, Stephanie (Anthony) Sutton, Brady (Brooke) Hoines, Tory Hoines, Alicia (Eric) Bauman, Anna (Trevor) Peterson, Abby (Mike) Trinka, Ivy, Nels, Julia, and Hank Braaten; and 7 great-grandchildren; and sister, Romelda Hanson of Moorhead, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Nellie; brother, Marvin Braaten and sister, Lila Anderson.
