Annie Vitek, 102, of Granger, died Thursday at a Granger Villa Nursing home. Celebration of Life Services will be 10 AM Monday, September 2, at Granger Brethren Church. Burial will follow at the Brethern Cemetery of Granger.

Annie Stacy Stansy Vitek was born April 14, 1900 at Rice s Crossing to Frank and Julia (Stiba) Stasny. The next to the oldest in a family of eleven, she spent many days chopping or picking cotton in the Brushy Creek area where she was raised.

Annie married Louis Vitek in 1921 and became a devoted wife and homemaker. Her home was always filled with the aroma of freshly baked kolaches. Friends and family never left her home hungry or without a peppermint candy for the road. Besides being a great cook, she was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and tending to her flower beds. Annie is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Vitek, two sons; Louis Vitek, Jr. and Marvin Vitek and a son-in-law, Joe E Huser.

Pallbearers will be the great grandsons.

Survivors include a daughter; Ella Huser of Granger, a sister; Ella Conger of Texas City, a brother; Tony Safarik, six grandchildren; Ellen & Jerry Hodon, Donna & Tommy Tallas, Ruth Wagoner, Joe & Rita Huser, Suzanne Huser and Barbara & Steve Lawrence, 12 great grandchildren 12 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
