DENNIS E. HORNIG, 57, of KEANSBURG, died Saturday, Sept. 22, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel of complications of a stroke. He was a steel welder/fabricator for US Filter, Marlboro for 25 years, retiring in 1995. He lived in Keansburg for 38 years, and was previously from Port Monmouth, Middletown. He was born in Red Bank. He was a member of Middletown Elks No. 2179, and a charter member of 25 years of Buck fin Rod and Gun Club.

He was predeceased by his father, Gustav Hornig. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Deirdre Miller Hornig; and daughter, Christine Hornig of Middletown; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Jr. and Jackie Hornig of Union Beach; son, Jeremy Hornig of Keansburg; granddaughter, Giovanna Pannullo; his mother, Mae Hornig of Port Monmouth; brothers, David Hornig of Keansburg, Donald Hornig of Toms River and Dean Hornig of Saylorsburg, Pa.; sisters, Debbie Hornig of Port Monmouth, Darlene Sovinski of Bushkill, Pa., and Dawn Thacke of Middletown; and his beloved pets, Otis, Norman, and Lola.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A funeral service is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Thursday from the funeral home with a 9:15 a.m. funeral Liturgy at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Carr Avenue, Keansburg. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown, is in charge of arrangements. Letters of condolence may be e-mailed to [email protected].
