Karen Marie (Meier) Burns, 73, of Edmond, OK passed away on November 3, 2020. She was born on November 11, 1946 in Shattuck, OK, and was adopted by Jacob and Esther (Ehrlich) Meier. Karen grew up in Shattuck and graduated from Shattuck High School in 1965. She then moved to Oklahoma City, OK where she raised her children, Dori and Jake.
Karen truly had a heart of gold and was a one-of-a-kind genuine person. She spent most of her adult life volunteering with church organizations, Meals on Wheels, Stephen Ministries, Hospice, and nursing homes. Her friendships were life-long, and Karen had a heart for service as she was selfless, faithful, kind, thoughtful, and loving to everyone she met.
In 1986, Karen married Robert Burns in Lake Tahoe culminating their love story and beginning a 34 year Wonderful marriage. They moved back to Oklahoma in 1988 and she went back to school earning her bachelor’s degree in Family Services from Northeastern Oklahoma University. She earned all A’s (with just one “B” in P.E.) and achieved the Outstanding Student Award for her degree field.
Karen is survived by her husband, Robert Burns; daughter, Dorianna Pena; son, William Joseph (Jake) Wall, II and his wife Mendi; sister, Judy Jolley, Robert’s sons, John Burns and Gene Burns and fiancé, Staci; grandchildren, Casey, Joshua, Nicholas, Riley, Jacob, Tallon, Kobe, Zachary, and Ryan, and great granddaughter Karter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Esther Meier.
Services celebrating the life of Karen will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Crawford Family Funeral Service Chapel, 610 NW 178th St., Edmond, OK 73012. There will be a reception for family and friends following the service.
