PHYLLIS WALTER - OSHKOSH - Phyllis June Walter, age 88, of Oshkosh passed away peacefully on February 11, 2018 at Eden Meadows, Oshkosh. Phyllis was born on June 14, 1929 in Oshkosh, the daughter of Nathan and Rita (Ellsworth) Case. As a survivor of childhood polio, her positive attitude gave her the strength to overcome many challenges. She attended Oshkosh High School, and then worked in the office at Morgan Co. and Wisconsin Axel. In 1954, Phyllis married Howard W. Walter of Oshkosh. Phyllis was an outgoing vibrant and loving individual, and she was an excellent mother to her five children. She loved to spend weekends with her family at their cottage near Waupaca. Phyllis was also a long time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday and Bible School. She also volunteered with Special Olympics and the Red Cross for many years. Phyllis will be remembered fondly by her many friends and card playing buddies at Carmel Residence, where she resided for 22 years.
Phyllis will be missed by her family; daughter, Marsha (Jim Miedel) Holloway, Oshkosh; sons, Dennis (Sandy) Holloway, Oshkosh; Stephen (Karen) Holloway, St. Paul, Minnesota; and Brian (Linda) Walter, Neenah; her 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and her sister Carol Barber, Rhinelander. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Howard, her son William Walter, Clover, South Carolina, her parents and two of her sisters. A private family service will be held at a future date and Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Oshkosh.
