Robert Carl Holbrook, Sr., 82 of Anderson passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 22, 2020 at his residence.
He was born March 27, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois to Glenn and Lillian Holbrook.
Bob loved the Lord and had a very strong faith. He was a member of Madison Park Church of God. Before moving to Anderson, he attended La Porte Church of God where he was the church treasurer for many years.
Bob proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 2 years with distinction. The patriotism and discipline he learned as a Marine never left him, as family and friends will attest to.
He worked as an interior decorator and trade show foreman in Chicago, Illinois, until he retired. Upon retiring, he and his loving wife, Carolyn moved to Anderson to be near family. Bob served as the treasurer for the homeowners association for many years.
Bob was a devoted husband, father; a wonderful grandpa, brother and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carolyn (Poe); their children, Robert, Jr. (Marinda) Holbrook, Richard (Pam) Holbrook, Kathleen (August) Zehner; grandchildren, Robert, III (Jessica) Holbrook, Libby Holbrook, Steven Holbrook, Nicholas Zehner, Sarah (Eric) Seitz and Zachary (Shelli) Zehner; great-grandchildren, Robert, Lilly and Wendy Holbrook, Claire and Emma Seitz and baby Zehner due any day; sister, Carol (Bob) Coolidge, sister-in-law, Barbara (Harlan) Bartels, brother-in-law, Mark (Sharon) Poe and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ken Holbrook, sister, Lois Stringer and twin daughters, Shelia and Sharon.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2020 at East Maplewood Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Mishler officiating.
