Frieda Reno, 100, of Marshalltown, died on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at UnityPoint Health Marshalltown. Funeral services at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Kodis officiating. Burial in the Riverside Cemetery.

Born Frieda Christina Punke on June 13, 1920 in Clayton, New Mexico, she was the daughter of Charles and Ica (Mercer) Punke. At age 7, they moved to Marengo, Iowa where she graduated from the Marengo High School.

Frieda was married to Daniel Curley Jr. from 1940 until his passing in 1974.

In 1948, Frieda and her family moved to Marshalltown and purchased the Bakery on 13th Street and had owned and operated it as Curley’s Bakery for twenty-six years.

In 1980, she married Vance Reno until his passing in 1991. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Frieda enjoyed fishing, sewing, crocheting, crafting and baking her wonderful cakes, pies. and cookies. Frieda dearly loved visiting with her family and was especially close with her siblings.

Survivors include her children, Judith (Robert) Gaynor and Daniel Curley III; grandchildren: David (Robin) Scheffert, Christina (David) Plain, Danielle (Warren) Simmons, Jacob (Cassie) Baker and Katie Baker; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a sister, Dorothy Miller.

Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ica; first husband, Daniel; second husband, Vance; siblings, Helen Haman, John Punke, Thelma Dietrich, Herman Punke, and Ernest Punke; and daughter-in-law, Terrie (Baker) Curley.
