Louise was the daughter of German immigrants Frank Herman Herbig and Elizabeth Beyerl, their 5th child and the 2nd child to be born in the US after the family came from Saxony, Germany in 1892. She was born in Glenshaw, Shaler Township in February of 1894. She married Albert Ferber on Feb. 11, 1915 in the parish house of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The couple lived in a small house that Albert built on part of his father's Maurer's Lane and Kittanning Pike farm. Shortly afterward, Albert's mother suffered a stroke and the family farm was sold. Louise and Albert bought a small house in Pleasant Valley across the street from his parent's new home. She was working in the kitchen one day when hammering on the porch startled her. Albert could not stand living in "town" and had suddenly placed the house up for sale, and the real estate agent was nailing a For Sale sign on the porch. They moved back up the hill of Kittanning Pike to a house built by George Weir, where conditions were a little rough. When Mr. Weir offered the caretaker position to Albert in 1921, they moved to the Greenwood Cemetery house on July 30th.

She was caretaker of Greenwood Cemetery after her husband's death in 1947. She collapsed in the kitchen of the house in 1959 and died before help could arrive. The Holzheimer & Bock Funeral Home of Sharpsburg made the funeral arrangements and she was buried on February 13th.
