Professional Baseball Player. Youngest of six children born to Dennis and Vivian, Harry was born into a family with one brother and four sisters. By age thirteen, he began to play softball, often switch hitting. He later joined the St. Croix Baseball League, playing there for five years. In 1958, he made his pro debut in the minor league, Nebraska State, although a good hitter, his true attribute was speed with twenty-seven stolen bases. In 1965, he was called up to the majors by the New York Yankees, and played second base for five seasons. His first game with the Yankees was against the Boston Red Sox. In 1974, he was traded to the San Diego Padres where he retired at the end of the season. He finished his career with a .256 batting average, twenty-seven home runs and 304 RBI (runs batted in). After retirement, he worked as a baseball instructor and an assistant scout. He died from complications from Alzheimer's disease.
