Elisabeth Lahr was born January 1, 1826 in Orscholz, Germany; the daughter of Mathias Lahr and Katie Kiefer. At the age of 21, she and her family board a ship to America and landed in New York. She was then married in Buffalo to Peter Folz on June 23, 1847. They had two children, Anna and Peter. Soon after she left New York with her daughter Anna, to join her family in Wisconsin. Here in 1853 she gave birth to daughter Elizabeth, for whom a father has not been named. In 1857 Elisabeth became the wife of Peter Willkomm who lost his wife Margaretha (Jaeger) and mother to his nine children; of which 6 survived infancy. Elizabeth and Peter added 8 more children to the large family; 4 of which did not survive childhood. After most of the children were grown in the late 1870's, early 1880's, Elisabeth and Peter removed to Chippewa County. Shortly after she suffered a stroke and was bedridden; then another right around her 56th birthday, which caused paralysis. She passed away on January 4th 1882 at Edson.
