Wally was born January 6, 1931, in Frost, MN, the son of Johann and Katherine (Strackbein) Weitzel. He was raised in the Wells area where he attended school. He was married to Verla I. Schwab on May 31, 1952 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Wally worked construction for Ankeny & Wiederholt Construction, Gerring Industries and Tafco Equipment through the years. He retired in 1997. Wally enjoyed hunting, fishing and time spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Since 2001 he had been a resident of St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center. Wally is survived by his wife, Verla Weitzel of Blue Earth, his daughter, Sharon K. Rose of Sacramento, California, his daughter, Rhonda G. Gustafson & special friend Jeff, of Blue Earth, his daughter, Sondra D. Goodrich of Elmore, his brother, Harold Weitzel of Albert Lea, 5 grandchildren: Nathan, Alissa, Jason, Scott & Tyler, 5 great grandchildren: Austin, Adrianna, Miya, Lilianna & Emanuel, many nieces & nephews, and special grandchild, Jamie Ringness. He was preceded in death by his parents and 20 brothers & sisters.
