Shirley Kauer, 88, of Rib Lake, died, January 23, 2024 while under the care of her family and Hope Hospice.

A funeral mass will take place on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Monday, January 29, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

Shirley was born on July 4, 1936 in Rib Lake to Robert and Louise (Nickel) Hein. She graduated from Eagle River High School in 1954 and then moved back to the Rib Lake Area.

On May 7, 1966 she married the love of her life Clayton Kauer. They were blessed with one son, Joe Kauer in 1977. Shirley worked at Gem Products in Rib Lake for 17 years. She enjoyed her family and raised bees and worked with her husband in their garage, repairing cars. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her many friends and family. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Shirley is survived by her son, Joe of Rib Lake; siblings, James Hein of the Milwaukee area, Kathleen Harvat of Oconto Falls, Jackie Mitchell of Rib Lake, Linda (Victor) Bauer of Eagle River, and many nieces and nephews, who will greatly miss her.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clayton in 2012; brother, Donald Hein; sisters, Patricia De Verney and Marion Glenzer; sister-in-law, Barbara Hein; brothers-in-law, Vilas "Bud" Glenzer, Alfons Mitchell, and Frank Harvat.
