G. Carroll Diamond, Ex-AFGE Official, Dies

G. Carroll Dimond, 62, chief of civilian personnel in the Adjutant General's Office and a former national vice president of the American Federation of Government Employes, died in Doctors Hospital yesterday after being stricken at this office last week.

A native of Franklin, N.H., Mr. Dimond was educated in New Hampshire schools and taught in schools in Puerto Rico from 1906 to 1908. In the latter year he came here and joined the staff of the Adjutant General's Office, becoming chief of civilian personnel server years ago.

He was one of the founders of the America Federation of Government Employes and served as a national vice president for many years.

Mr. Dimond is survived by his widow, Florence M. Dimond. They lived at 7927 Orchid street N.W. Also surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Margaret D. Awtrey, 2832 Northhampton street N.W., and a sister, Mrs. Edith Butterick of Elkins, N.W.

Funeral services will be held at noon tomorrow in the Hines funeral home, 2901 Fourteenth street, N.W. Burial will be private.
