BLOOMFIELD — James Francis Kingsley, 81, of Bloomfield, died Friday at Bloomington Hospital.

Born Dec. 1, 1925, in Covington, Ky., he was the son of Daniel Richard and Alberta (Ripberger) Kingsley.

He grew up in Covington, attending St. Mary's Catholic Church and Schools.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in both the Pacific and the Atlantic aboard the USS Bunch and the USS Wrangell, and retired after 22 years. He worked at Indiana Limestone Co. 1963 — 1992 and retired as personnel manager.

He served the citizens of Greene County as a reserve deputy for 27 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church youth choir, VFW Post 6948 and American Legion Post 0777, both in Indianapolis. He attended the Bloomfield First Baptist Church regularly.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Eleanor Haywood Kingsley; three sons, James Francis Kingsley Jr. and wife Connie of Summerville, S.C., John Harold Kingsley and wife Gaylene of Big Pine Key, Fla., and Daniel Richard Kingsley III of Charleston, S.C.; three daughters, Jewel Marlaine Carmichael and husband James of Bloomfield, Jaquiline Lee Kingsley of Paduca, Ky., and Judith Lynn McDaniel and husband Walter of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; eight grandchildren, James Francis Kingsley III (Jennifer), Andrea (David) Milligan, Jay (Amber) Kingsley, Cory (Jennifer) Rash, Ashley Carmichael, Jacob Carmichael, Rhonda Zitnick and Jennifer Welker; 16 great-grandchildren JJ, Olivia and Veronica Kingsley, Ashley Dugger, Nicholas, Mary, Jackson and Emily Milligan, Isabella, Kaylee and Devon Kingsley, Noah and Payton Rash, Shane and Zacary Zitnick and Becca Dawn Fitzpatrick; foreign exchange student Arne Utermack; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Daniel Richard Kingsley and John Harold Burkhart.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bloomfield Baptist Church, with Rev. Brent Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Nebo Cemetery in Newberry, with military graveside service conducted by Bloomfield American Legion Post #196.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield and noon until services Wednesday at the church.
