At the age of 2 his parents moved to a farm north of Haverhill. He received his education at the Haverhill school. He farmed until his retirement. For many years he was president of the Round Grove Telephone Company. He was a past president of the telephone co. at Melbourne. He also servd as president of the Holy Name Society of the Rhodes Catholic Men. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marshalltown.
