CUBA CITY, Wis. -- John H. Klaas, 71, of Cuba City, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at Southwest Health Center, Platteville.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cuba City, with the Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Casey Funeral Home, Cuba City, where there will be a parish wake service at 3 p.m.

Mr. Klaas worked at Dubuque Stamp for 32 years.

He was born on June 26, 1936, in Happy Corners, son of Edward J. and Viola C. (Gubbels) Klaas. He married Joan Tigges on June 29, 1957, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dubuque. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

John was a handyman who enjoyed wood working, dancing, fishing, and traveling.

Surviving are his wife, Joan; a daughter, Mary Ann (Bill) Laugesen, of Dubuque; two sons, Ken (Naomi Brandenburg) Klaas, of Loves Park, Ill., and James Klaas, of Mazomanie; seven sisters and two brothers, Gladys Klaas and Mary (James) White, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Nancy (Bud) Loeffelholz, of Platteville, Darlene Klaas, of Cedar Rapids, Grace Brummer and Mert (Skip) Banfield, both of Cuba City, Frank (Mary) Klaas, of Holmen, and Richard (Bev) Klaas and Tracy (Dan) Mootz, both of Cuba City; three grandchildren, Reggie (Kristina) Klaas, and Travis and Kasandra Klaas; two great-grandchildren, Zane and Kirsten Klaas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, John and Anna Gubbels; a son, Robert E. Klaas, and a sister, Marlene Klaas.
